real techniques - starter set

real techniques - starter set £21.99

Core collection review here. As I was so impressed with the core collection that I bought the eye make up brushes as well. I normally use more eye products than face products so I thought this would come in handy. Again the quality of them are amazing! They are so soft which is different to most eye brushes I have, the deluxe crease brush is the perfect size for my crease even though I never really wear colour in my crease as I find it to hard to do, this brush makes it really easy because its dense and rounded. The base shadow brush is again the perfect size for my eyes, it puts on colour really smoothy which I have found hard to achieve with my MAC 239. The accent brush is great for putting highlights on the inner corners and on your brow bone, its small so it is really precise. I haven't really used the pixel-point eyeliner brush yet as I don't need it but it is super thin so I think it would be perfect for gel eyeliner. The brow brush is perfect! Its again the perfect size for my eyebrows and it creates a lovely shape at the front of your eyebrows. I can't fault these brushes at all, I think they're defiantly worth the money and I'll have to get some more when they come out with different sets!

benefit hello flawless foundation

benefit yellow flawless oxygen wow foundation - shade honey £24.50

As you probably all know I love Benefit makeup, it is my favourite brand! I absolutely love the packaging and the whole concept of the brand. This packaging for the foundation is a little less 50's/60's inspired like usual, and a bit more modern, I absolutely love that font they used, I will have to find the name of it and download it! I am in the shade 'I'm so money - honey', which is a golden sand for medium complexions. It does look a bit dark for me when its in the tube but I was matched at a benefit counter so she must have thought it matched! It blends into my skin really well so the colour isn't such a problem. It is a moisturising foundation, and I can defiantly tell it has been moisturising my skin. It also has SPF in which is a bonus! The coverage is medium but it is buildable without becoming cakey. The finish is quite dewy without looking oily, though I still like to put a power over as I prefer a matte finish. It stays on my face pretty much all day which is good because I don't like reapplying make up. Though my face touched my brothers white top and a little bit of it rubbed off! Which I hate with foundations, so if you have any tips on how to stop that happening please let me know below! I think this is the only foundation I have tried that I love, it really does make your skin look flawless, I will defiantly be rebuying this when I run out!

DIY - miley cyrus inspired body chain

Miley Cyrus has been seen many times recently wearing this body chain, it is $250 for literally a piece of chain, well hers is probably 543245 carat gold but still, heres a less expensive way to make it your self!

you'll need some gold chain, tools, jump rings, and jewellery clasps
I got them all from a craft supplier but there are loads on ebay

001. Put a one chain around your neck and another around your waist.
002. Pinch the chain thats around your neck in the middle of your chest, and bring the piece of chain thats around your waist to meet it.
003. Take the chain that is around your neck off and keep a hold of where you pinched it.
004. Open a piece of the chain on each side and with pliers remove the excess chain. Put a jump ring on both ends so it looks like it is a normal necklace.
005. Do the same on the piece that was around your waist but attach each end to the same jump ring which is on the neck piece.
006. Now you should have a long piece of chain with a jump ring in the middle. The part that goes around your neck should be shorter than the piece that goes around your waist. Open the chain at the opposite end to where you've just put the jump ring, and attach another jump ring and clasp.
007. On one piece attach a jump ring and the clasp and close it.
008. On the other piece attach only a jump ring. So it looks like this when closed.

real techniques - core collection

real techniques - core collection £21.99

I wasn't really so concerned when these brushes came out as I already had a lot of make up brushes, but they always caught my eye when ever I went into boots, but because I had briefly seen them on blogs before I thought there must be something good about them so I gave into temptation and bought them. I am so glad I did! They are the softest brushes I have ever used, even softer than MAC brushes. The 'core collection' is specifically for the face, which I didn't really think I would get much use out of because I don't wear much product on my face, but ever since buying these I have wore blusher and contoured my face everyday! The contour brush is amazing, it fits into my cheek bones perfectly, and it puts colour on so smoothly, it looks really natural which is a must for when you're contouring your face. I use the buffing brush for blusher and that again puts colour on flawlessly. The detailer brush I use for blending in concealer and because its a denser brush than the rest it hides every flaw! I don't really use the pointed foundation brush for anything because I don't need it but it would be a perfect brush for liquid foundation. I really think these brushes are better than some of my MAC ones, and they're much cheaper! The duo fiber hair on each brush gives you a flawless finish every time. The case they come with is so handy! It folds almost every way imaginable, I especially love how it bends in half and the brushes are sticking out the top, it makes it easy to access when you're in a rush trying to get ready on time. It is a great way to store them and keep them from getting dusty, I keep them in their cases. I would really recommend these to anyone looking for new brushes they are defiantly worth the price! I can't wait to get my hands on some more!

whats in my bag

bag - topshop (really old)
make up bag - ruby and millie, mirror - gift from a friend, brush - eco tools, perfume - dkny gold apple, rain mac (not in the cover on that photo) - jack wills, purse - ted baker, umbrella - jack wills

I thought I'd do a 'whats in my bag' post because I really like it when people do these, I'm quite nebby so if you have a post on whats in your bag, link it in the comments, I'd really like to see it! This is generally what I carry around every day, except for if I'm at school I'll obviously have my pencil case and books as well. I have started bringing a rain mac (so cool) around with me because you just can not trust the weather here these days, it looks nice in the morning but you can guarantee as soon as I leave the house it will start to rain. I always bring my phone and ipod because I can't live with out them. I bring my purse, keys, hand sanitizer, a brush if I have my hair down because it gets tatty so quickly. I bring a umbrella incase my rain mac doesn't match what i'm wearing (most of the time). Hannah Montana tissues of course, a mirror and what ever perfume I'm wearing that day, and a usb stick, not sure why thats in there though. Depending on where I'm going I will bring a little make up bag, I don't like to constantly reapply make up but I will bring a face powder, eye lash curlers, mascara, lip balm, white eyeliner because it comes off so fast, spare hair bobbles and bobbie pins, and finally orthodontist wax (saves my life).

hi again

(follow me on instagram @thesecretavenue)
bby gurl / wahhh / best friend miley

I don't really know where to start with this post but I'm back! Not that I was away for long, but it feels like I haven't posted in ages! I have so many posts planned to do! But I didn't want to post a proper review or anything today because to be honest I couldn't really be bothered, so to get myself into the swing of things again I thought I'd just update you all on where I've been and what I've been doing. I have had exams again, they seem to come around so quickly! I just had my last one today so I can finally relax for a bit, hopefully everything went well, fingers crossed! My cousin Jessica is back to blogging again as her exams are over for now too! So make sure you follow her cause she's class.

Its almost the summer holidays, just 5 weeks to go, I can't wait! I have a list of things I want to do in the summer (cheesy) but still haha, theres so many things I have wanted to do but because of exams I haven't been able to, I have sooooo many t.v shows I want to catch up on, I'm probably going to become a total couch potato and stay in and watch t.v all day! I'm going to concentrate on blogging a lot more and maybe even make a couple of youtube videos, I have wanted to make yt videos for years but I've never had the guts, I think I just need to get over it and do it, I just find the whole concept a bit cringey. I also want to change my blog design again, I know I'm always changing it but I think its a good thing because its constantly getting better and more professional (in my opinion at least). I might through the summer set up a bigcartel account and sell a couple of pieces of jewellery I make, not too sure about that yet though.

So yeah, thats pretty much it, I do hope I haven't bored you too much, but I just wanted to update you all on things. I will be back to regular blogging tomorrow! My list of posts to do is huge, if you have any requests and want to add to that list, let me know!

may favourites

the wah nails book of nail art, benefit hello flawless, maybelline falsies flared, bourjous nail polish remover, miley cyrus, real techniques blush and contour brushes, soap and glory scrub actually, benefit creaseless cream shadow in rsvp

The WAH nails book of nail art - I have been wanting this book for ages and ever since I got it I have been trying out the designs as you probably all know by now, I love to paint my nails. Each design is original and all look really effective, the tutorials are really easy to follow, and don't take that long.

Hello Flawless - I have been finally treating my skin right, washing it, toning and moisturising every morning and night and it has repaid me by breaking out in spots! So I had to get a good foundation which is not to heavy and covers my skin evenly. This is so light and perfect for me because I don't like heavy make up and it really does make my skin look flawless.

Maybelline Falsies Flared - My eyelashes are pathetically short so I have been trying everything to make them appear longer and fuller, I heard this makes your lashes look like you're wearing false lashes. For me it doesn't really do much, it does make them look fuller and thicker but I don't get much length from it, that will be of course because I have boy eyelashes.

Bourjous Nail Polish Remover - This has saved my life, I'm constantly changing my nail colour and this has made removing nail polish so much easier and quicker! Review here.

Miley Cyrus - I realised I didn't have any of my Miley Cyrus albums on my ipod so I straight away put her albums on. I have really been loving her Breakout album, I'd say it was her best one. Meet Miley Cyrus is perfection too.

Real Technique Brushes - These brushes are so soft its quite unbelievable, I'd even say they were better than MAC brushes. They apply make up so flawlessly I'd really recommend them.

Soap and Glory Scrub Actually - This scrub is great for getting summer ready skin, it smells amazing and leaves your skin looking and feeling smooth and soft. It moisturises really well and isn't too harsh, it makes you smell delicious as well!

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in RSVP - This cream eyeshadow is perfect for when you don't have time or can't really be bothered to do a full eye of make up. It is quick and easy to apply and gives a lovely colour to your lid. It makes hazel and green eyes stand out and sparkle.

benefit glamour freebies 2012

You probably all know about this little calibration by Benefit and Glamour magazine, if not, get out of the house now and find them! Once a year Benefit pick three products to give away as freebies in Glamour magazine, this year they have picked, that gal primer, the porefessional primer and bad gal lash mascara. The samples are quite small but still good enough size to test properly. I haven't tried them yet because I'm going to keep them for my holiday as they are the perfect size. I got these at Fenwicks but you will probably have the best chance at getting them at your local newsagents because they are really popular!
